"A 25-year-old volunteer firefighter was killed Sunday morning after his vehicle rolled over and ended up submerged in a ditch. The unwitnessed accident happened just before 9 a.m. at Alpine and Pescadero Creek roads, said Scot Jalbert, fire captain with the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection. Jesse Cole, a volunteer at the La Honda Fire Department, was pronounced dead at the scene, Jalbert said. He was not responding to an incident at the time of the accident.
The California Highway Patrol is investigating."

"Today is a sad day for La Honda - our close friend Jesse died up on Alpine road. He went to La Honda School and Pescadero middle school. His finished his schooling in Redding when his family moved up there. Jesse joined the Marine Corps after graduating from High School in Redding. Jesse's heart never left La Honda and he moved back her two years ago. He was a great guy and will be missed by his friends and us. He is survived by his parents Bob and Glenda Cole, brothers and sisters Summer, Clay, Leah, Janna, Jon, Becka, If any one would like to send cards please e-mail me and I will get it to
you. The Memorial for Jesse James Cole will be Sat April 1 at Coastside Baptist Church, HMB at 10:30 am (note:time different than originally posted)...Hug your kids you never know when they will not be there."
