All are welcome to attend Puente’s fifth annual Community Posada, to take place December 21, 2012 in Pescadero, rain or shine.
Traditionally, the Posadas enact the journey of Joseph and Mary, remembering them as they went door to door in search of lodging and safe haven. Their journey reminds us of countless other pilgrims that sought safety over the generations and those that refused them shelter. This powerful narrative takes different forms in every faith tradition as we are reminded that each of us holds the responsibility to bring light to others, even in the darkest times. The powerful procession will be led by musicians, with the entire procession singing traditional carols. The celebration will begin at 6:00pm at St. Anthony’s Church, 696 North Street. The procession will set off from there down North Street to the Pescadero Community Church at 363 Stage Road and conclude at IDES Hall at 2 Stage Road, where there will be food, music, games, and photos with Santa Claus for the children. There will also be a raffle of jackets, shoes, children’s toys and more, donated by generous supporters and community members. Last year over 300 diverse community members came out for the festivities and Puente youth handed out nearly 200 Christmas stockings to the children in attendance. This event, sponsored and organized by Puente, the community resource center for the south coast, with the valued support of the Bella Vista Foundation and numerous individuals and faith institutions, is Puente’s biggest community event of the year. A smaller celebration will take place on Sunday December 23, 2012 at 3:00 PM for South Coast farm and nursery workers. For more information, contact Puente at 650-879-1691 or visit mypuente.org.
