Action at the La Honda Fair
by craig eddy
It's been about three years now since starting the Face of Local Music. I have interviewed a few dozen local musicians and business owners that support local music. In review I have to say, "Is it something in the water"? I don't think I am even close to running out of potential candidates. However as the new year unfolds I want to start writing about the local bands too. Our area has a long history of local music and music events. The La Honda Fair, Pescadero Fun Fest, July 4th, Jamfest, Turkey Jam, along with San Gregorio Store, Alice's, AppleJacks, the La Honda Café and the Cuesta Guild have all blessed this area with high quality music and venues. However at this point I want to acknowledge all the people that have gone out and supported local music and made this area such a fun place for us musicians. Thanks so much and keep it up! You can always go to lahonda.com and see the history of Face of Local Music articles. I want to mention a few bands that have put out recordings that would make excellent holiday gifts. Bundy Browne, Lisa Kelly, Tod Novak, Pathetic Honey, Jack Mullins, The Banana Slug String Band, Derek Krogh, and Lisa Chupity have all put out quality projects. I will try and get them all to put some copies in the La Honda Market so you can browse them. There are some on display now. And now a shout out to Bob D. who works so hard on the lahonda.com blog as well as the monthly printed version. When you see him give him a big Thanks Bob!!! One year ago I wrote about the impending end of the world and yet here we all are so go out and catch some local music and stuff those stockings with local music!!! Here's looking at a new year of great community events and music. Happy holidays everyone!!!
