Pathetic Honey kicking off the Fair Friday night at the Cafe
by craig eddy
What to do when it seems the world is going insane? Intolerance, racist speak, violence all seem to be the norm these days. Well this year the La Honda Fair seemed like a good place to show there is still room for neighborliness, sharing, tolerance and unity. The people of La Honda get together every year in June to celebrate our small town and the importance of getting along. The La Honda Fair has always shown when people chip in and work together great things can happen. This year many of the bands put forth the good vibe positive message of peace. Especially the first time band Coast Tribe really brought the message home. A great group of youngsters that really get it and shout it out. This Way Up got the dance energy going all the while spreading the message of peace. My favorite musical moment was when Collective Movement played and Aidan’s young son Jalani led the band in the song One Day. The La Honda Fair only works because of the volunteers, Charlie C. the owner of the site, and the townspeople that come out. Many thanks to all that had a hand in making it an awesome weekend. I especially have to say that I was moved when the whole crowd joined in and sang Imagine with me and made a statement about what kind of world we want. Let’s keep that community vibe going throughout the year. Lending a hand when a neighbor needs it, getting involved in community events and projects, and keeping the right frame of mind in a world that seems rather crazy right now. We might not be able to effect the world but we certainly can make a difference here in La Honda…...Peace.
